Milpa

Milpa comes from the Nahauat word milli (“sown field”) and pan (“on top of”) which refers to the farming practice used throughout Mesoamerica. We honor this ancient ancestral Milpa practice by tending the Three Sisters: corn, squash, and beans.

Tending can look like:

  • Seeding

  • Transplanting

  • Tending to the Soil

  • Harvesting

  • Processing the corn

  • Making tamales

  • Canning Salsa

  • Nixtamalizing Corn

  • Making Masa

Our first Milpa tending opportunity will occur in early Spring 2026.

Stay tuned for updates on specific dates and times!

This volunteer opportunity is only available to Indigenous communities.
